After Nairn it was a short drive over to the Inverness area where we stopped by the Clava Cairns. They're 4,000 year old burial mounds. It was a very blustery day and we ate the lunches that our host in Nairn packed for us including the smallest Pepsi's we've ever seen. Picture one of those tiny V8 cans - but Pepsi.

After that we went to Culloden - the site of Scotland's last fight for independence and a staggering defeat. Rather than describe it, here's a link to an indepth history. Suffice it to say to the Scots it's like Pearl Harbor. There were so many casualties they had to bury them on the battlefield by clans. There are large rolling mounds 100 feet long with a headstone with just the clan's name.

After that it was on to our night in a real Scottish castle. We stayed a night in the haunted honeymoon suite of Castle Stuart. This was the most special night of the whole trip. It was truly magical.
